How to care for your furniture


Used in the manufacture of our furniture, they are sensitive to variations in temperature and humidity. These living woods may therefore show slight cracking according to seasons and climates. This natural phenomenon in no way alters the quality of our furniture and gives it a certain charm.


wood

Varnished wood (satin or gloss):

  • Dust with a soft cloth as often as you like.
  • If the item is very dusty, clean with a slightly damp non-abrasive sponge. Then wipe with a soft, dry, non-fluffy cloth.
  • To bring the shine back, use a silicon-based aerosol product (for furniture).
  • Do not use wax or any wax-based product.
  • Do not expose to direct sunlight, position near a source of heat or in a location open to the elements (dampness, rain, etc.).

Varnished wood (matt):

  • Dust with a soft cloth as often as you like.
  • If the item is very dusty, clean with a slightly damp non-abrasive sponge. Then wipe with a soft, dry, non-fluffy cloth.
  • Do not use wax or any wax-based product.
  • Do not expose to direct sunlight, position near a source of heat or in a location open to the elements (dampness, rain, etc.).

Waxed wood:

  • Wood which is covered by wax only is sensitive to staining.
  • Dust with a soft cloth as often as you like.
  • Dust more thoroughly with a duster and dust-repelling aerosol once a week.
  • Once or twice a year, wipe the item over with wax polish - as beeswax does not adhere very well, use a mixture of beeswax and vegetable wax.
  • Leave to dry, then rub with a very dry woollen cloth to bring out the shine.
  • If your furniture has been wax polished too often, it will be slightly sticky to the touch. You need to clean out the wood. Use turps for this.
  • Do not expose to direct sunlight, position near a source of heat or in a location open to the elements (dampness, rain, etc.).

Lacquered or painted wood (not varnished):

  • Dust your lacquered or painted furniture with a damp cloth then wipe as soon as possible with a soft, dry, non-fluffy cloth.

Glass tabletops:

  • Because glass is fragile, we recommend storing your glass tabletop garden furniture indoors in a cool, dry place where there is no risk of freezing.

zinc :

  • Zinc is a material which ages and becomes polished over time.
  • Subject to damage from scratching, water stains and finger marks, as well as by certain “acid” foods (vinegar, lemon, etc. ), it requires constant upkeep.
  • We recommend that you avoid allowing water to lie on the work surface, that you wipe it with a soft cloth after using, and that you use a trivet.
  • Stain-resistant coating on the facades. Clean with a slightly damp sponge and wipe with a soft, dry cloth.

coverings

Synthetic coverings (vinyl, PVC, polyurethane, etc.) :

  • Once or twice a year, you can apply a leather oil, leave to dry for 24 hours, then wipe with a soft, dry, non-fluffy cloth.
  • Do not expose to direct sunlight, position near a source of heat or in a location open to the elements (dampness, rain, etc.).

Textile coverings (cotton)

  • Without loose covers:
  • To clean your furniture covers, you must first dust them and if necessary remove or clean them.
  • Considering the vast range of treatments available depending on the origin of the stain, you are recommended to consult a cleaning professional if you have any doubts about what to do.
  • With loose covers:
  • To ensure that the covers and curtains retain their high quality, we recommend dry cleaning for all our removable fabrics.
  • However, certain products can be machine washed in cool water (30° C).
  • Rangoon chair cushion : machine wash in cool water (30° C)
  • Bengale and sidney armchair cushions : machine wash in cool water (30° C)
  • Soft floor cushion cover : machine wash in cool water (30° C)
  • Manosque drapes and sheer curtains : machine wash in cool water (30° C)
  • Stool cushions for Newport table and 4 stool set : machine wash in cool water (30° C)
  • Oléron sun lounger/lounger mattress cover : wash 3 times in cold water, then machine wash in cool water (30° C)
  • Pondichery daybed cushions : wash 3 times in cold water, then machine wash in cool water (30° C)

Chased metal:

  • Dust with a soft cloth as often as you like.
  • If the item is dirty, clean with a slightly damp, soapy, non-abrasive sponge. Then wipe with a soft, dry, non-fluffy cloth.
  • Do not expose to direct sunlight, position near a source of heat or in a location open to the elements (dampness, rain, etc.).

Rugs and furniture
in the Vache, Megève and Zèbre ranges (except for mirrors) :

  • We recommend that you clean your calf skin regularly. To do so, remove the dust regularly using a vacuum cleaner (on a low setting) or a soft brush, brushing in the direction of the hair.
  • To clean any marks: mop up spills straight away using a sponge or absorbent paper, then wipe the skin with plain water using a clean damp cloth in the direction of the hair.
  • Dry the skin with a towel, always wiping in the direction of the hair, and then leave it to finish drying naturally.
  • Avoid direct exposure to light (both natural and artificial) as it could discolour the skin.
  • Do not put the skin near to sources of high heat.
  • Do not rub the skin.
  • Do not use soaps or other leather creams.

Garden teak:

  • Dust with a soft cloth whenever necessary.
  • If the furniture is very dusty, clean with a damp, non-abrasive sponge.
  • Dry with a soft, dry, non-lint producing cloth.
  • We recommend oiling your furniture before the first use, then twice a year, mid-spring and at the beginning of fall, to keep its original golden-honey colour.
  • Use only high-quality teak oil, not a by-product or a synthetic oil.
  • Apply the oil with a dry, non-lint producing cloth or a soft brush, in an even coat.
  • Leave to dry for 24 to 48 hours, then wipe the furniture again with a dry cloth.
  • Repeat the procedure if necessary.
  • To maintain its original good looks, we recommend that you protect this furniture from rain and frost.

Painted metal:

  • Clean your metal furniture with clear or soapy water without detergent.
  • Wipe it carefully to avoid limescale marks.
  • Do not rub with an abrasive or metallic sponge and do not use scouring powder or any other detergent.
  • For very dirty marks, use a window-cleaner product with alcohol or a specific multi-use Cleaning product.

Concrete effect composite materials
(MINERAL and GRAPHITE Range):

  • Clean the surfaces with a non-abrasive soapy sponge, then rub dry with a cloth.
  • Use a gentle cleaning product (free of ammonia or bleach, rather than a ‘Cif’-type product).
  • Avoid allowing acid stains (e.g. wine, cola, orange juice, tomato juice) to soak in.
