Marble is a slightly porous stone that should be cleaned as follows:

Clean it on a daily basis just using a damp cloth that has been wrung out well. Then dry it with a microfibre cloth to prevent any marks. You can also use Marseille soap with lukewarm water. Rinse well with a damp cloth to remove any potential soap residue and dry.

To avoid any marks, you should never use detergents (bleach), abrasive products and sponges and you should avoid splashes from acid food such as lemons, vinegar, tomatoes, etc.

Use a trivet to stand your hot dishes and saucepans on to avoid any heat damage.

Make sure that you never cut anything directly on the marble and that you use a cutting board.

There are special products for cleaning and protecting marble which are available in large DIY stores. Make sure you always test the product first on a less visible area. You should never use these products more than once every two years because they can form deposits on your marble in the long run.
